"Sea of Sheep" will pass through the city. A popular attraction is coming.

A famous attraction is fast approaching. We're talking about the largest Autumn Redyk in Poland, held annually in Szczawnica . This spa town in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, right next to the Pieniny Mountains, has more to offer than some might think. This space offers more than just spas and treatments, but also a unique event.
Sheep herd in SzczawnicaThe redyk in Szczawnica is nothing more than a massive procession of hundreds of sheep, accompanied by their shepherds. This isn't your average stroll. Everyone moves along the main streets of the town, with local music playing and a multitude of gawkers standing around. Tourists plan their trips well in advance to take in the unique views and secure affordable accommodations in the mountains.
Many people call the redyk "a sea of sheep" flowing through Szczawnica, and they're right. These fluffy white animals create their own world, which we can admire only twice a year – in autumn and spring. Now, the sheep will be returning from the mountain pastures to their farms for the winter. The event will run from October 10th to 11th.
Highlander days full of attractionsRedyki are part of the highlander pastoral tradition in the Pieniny Mountains, dating back to the 15th century. Since then, they have become a permanent part of the local landscape. However, in Szczawnica, the spectacle is the most spectacular in Poland. The sheep's walk is accompanied not only by the sounds of highlander music but also by the colorful horse banners. This has been happening for over 50 years, and the event is accompanied by many attractions.
This year, on the first day – October 10th – tourists will notice the outdoor stage at the Palenica Railway Station, where there will be demonstrations of oscypek cheese making, among other things. You will also have the opportunity to listen to stories from the shepherd's hut and immerse yourself in a culinary feast of sheep specialties in a highland atmosphere and musical accompaniment.
On the second day, October 11th, the main event will begin at 1 p.m.: a sheep parade through the streets of Szczawnica. The ceremony will conclude at the Flisacka Pier on the so-called Sands.
